INNOVATIVE MULTIFUNCTIONAL SOLUTIONS FOR SKIJUMPING
Multifunctional solutions from windnet systems
The most recent innovation from Alpina is – next to the mobile system – our permanent windnet-system for wind deflection.
With the permanent system, the wind nets are available in a permanently installed tower. If necessary, the wind nets are rolled out, rolled up again after jumping.
More Safety, more fairness
These systems do not only provide more safety for the athletes but also more fairness in the competition. Developed in close cooperation with the International Ski Federation (FIS), our wind net gives a measurable reduction of the influences of the wind on jump-off platform and jumping hill. Like an F1 spoiler, the wind is deflected away over the jump-off platform and the knoll.
State-of-the-art computer simulations
accompanying recording of all relevant data and consideration of the geographical conditions allow an ongoing advancement and optimisation of our system.
With a specially developed 3D- computer program Alpina safety systems is capable of testing all the ski jumping arenas according to their wind problems …
Additionally customers can be offered adequate solutions with Alpina windnets in order to minimize financial risks of wind-related cancellation. Even camera technical requirements of TV productions can be clarified with this program in advance.
Multi-Use-Solution
Multifunctional usability: Monumental structures are to serve in the future preferably in sports-entertainment and entertainment business as a venue and not just a single sport; …
… the total required, multifunctional infrastructure, such as a theater, lighting, windnet systems, video screens, sporting profiles and Backstage requirements etc are already included in the planning phase.
Currently, the OC of the Olympic Games Beijing 2022 is being supported with know-how and engineering in the planning and also evaluation of the wind problematics. Like the OC of the Olympic Games 2018 in PyeongChang / Korea.
In addition to the 4Schanzen – Tournee …
the organizers also trusted Alpina Windnet-Solutions in the Ski Flying WSC Kulm 2016, the next challenge waits in Seefeld with the the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019. Projects in Klingenthal/D, Oberstdorf/A and Kulm/A also were successfully implemented.
Bergisel 2009
Due to the increasing wind problems, the major jump events were increasingly threatened by cancellations, so the ÖSV / Austria Ski Nordic, as the organizer of the Bergisel jumping, approached Alpina to jointly install a wind network with approx. 1,700 m² of net area; the pilot system in the form of a mobile windnet system was implemented in January 2009 and in all subsequent years for the Bergisel competition installed and removed after the event – a successful partnership with and for our customers!
Garmisch-Partenkirchen
The next, bigger challenge arose after a wind-related cancellation of the New Year‘s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After clarifying some adversities on site (architects’ objections, television, financing) for over a year, this facility with approx. 1,500 m² of net area was to be admired first in January 2012. Immediately after the first assignment, a cancellation due to stronger winds was averted.
Sochi 2014
One of the greatest challenges so far, as anchorages on the extremely unstable ground were difficult to fix. After intensive evaluations, a project for the design and installation of a windnet system with 2,700 m² of net area was started. After the Winter Games in February 2014, the facility was disassembled to sustainably reuse it on a fixed ski jumping facility within the Russian Federation.
Falun 2015
Also the organizers of the FIS Nordic World Cup 2015 in Falun/S trusted the mobile windnet solution by Alpina. Main features: Mobile Windnet system – Rental, app. 2000 m² net area on 10 steel poles with heights up to 21 m, initial installation January 2014.
